Modern Snare Drum Competition MOUNT JULIET, TN, June 4, 2026... Unaccompanied snare drum, the percussionist’s solo voice often spotlights highly technical compositions that require refined stick control, intricate roll structures, and strict dynamic changes, focusing heavily on musicality. The Modern Snare Drum Competition hosted by the Cleveland Institute of Music under the direction of Mark Demoulakis is the premier opportunity in the USA for young percussionists to showcase their solo talents.

"I have watched this competition continue to grow into something special," states Majestic Percussion Brand Manager Jeff Mulvihill. "The opportunity for young percussionists to focus on developing their soloistic musicality through the medium of one single snare drum performance is purely inspiring."

Separate divisions encompassing three rounds each provide the framework for snare drummers under the age of twenty-six to display their talent through performance of high-level standard repertoire before a panel of expert judges. The experience includes monetary and Majestic Snare drums as prizes, but the experience goes well beyond the prizes as the experience of performing at one of the country’s greatest musical institutions is something these young performers will not soon forget.
