Artist Bio:
Ethan Ahmad is a percussionist and educator based in Houston, TX. He is currently the Assistant Percussion Director at Pearland High School, where he works with the nationally acclaimed marching band and writes for the World Class Indoor Drumline. Additional duties include working with the junior highs and running the percussion ensemble programs at all schools for the cluster. He maintains a large private studio of students who have experienced success at every level from 1st chair junior high Region Band rankings, to TMEA All-Staters, acceptances into competitive college studios, and Fred Sanford Awards in DCI.
As a performer, Ethan enjoys all aspects of percussion and has had a multifaceted career beginning with an involvement in DCI and WGI and moving to a more orchestral focus. He has had opportunities to play with premier orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Houston Symphony, and the New World Symphony in Miami, as well as artists such as Glenn Frey of The Eagles and Steve Vai. He has also been fortunate enough to work with many of the day’s leading composers and conductors such as Steve Reich, Gustavo Dudamel, Michael Tilson Thomas, and the incomparable John Williams, among many others. Festival appearances include fellowships at the Tanglewood Music Center, Music Academy of the West, Texas Music Festival, and Round Top Music Festival. Ethan studied at Rice University and holds degrees from The University of Southern California and The Juilliard School.
