Banded Story: My teacher made it clear that doing music for a career would be extremely challenging, and that if we could see ourselves doing anything else, we should change majors. I knew making music with students and friends would beat a real job anyday!
Artist Bio: Stephen Bott is a versatile drummer, percussionist, and music educator with a special interest in collaborating with composers and promoting new percussion music. After a B.M.E. from Central Michigan University, where he received the Grant Skomski Percussion Scholarship, Stephen moved to Boulder and earned a M.M. at the University of Colorado, where he received the Nancy and Ted Anderson Music Award. He plays principal percussion with the Boulder Symphony, teaches privately at the Parlando School of Musical Arts, and runs the percussion program in several St. Vrain Valley schools. On drumset, Stephen enjoys everything from cocktail jazz to heavy metal, and loves that variety in his life!
