Artist Bio:

Arjan Jongsma (1995 ) was a student of Roel Jan Jongsma at the Center for the Arts “Meldij” in Drachten and was a member of the Talent class of “The Ferwerda Academy” and the Young Talent Class of the Prins Claus Conservatory. Since September 2013 Arjan is studying at the Conservatory of Amsterdam . Arjan received in 2009 1st prize at the National Finals of the Prinses Christina Concours in the Lucent Dance Theatre in The Hague. He also received the KPMG Press Prize and the Rubens Quartet Price. In 2007 he won both the jury and the audience prize at the Haydn Music Festival in Groningen. In 2011, Arjan won the on-line talent contest " Netherlands goes Classic " during the week of Classical Music. In October 2009 he received the Musis Sacrum Accelerando Classic Award from the Chamber Music Society of Arnhem. In 2010 he received the Encouragement of Music Award 2010 Smallingerland. Arjan gave concerts throughout the country as a soloist with orchestras such as the Noordpool Orchestra, the Philips Symphony Orchestra and Dutch Theatre Orchestra. He was also to see and hear at national television with the Prinsengracht Concert 2009 in Amsterdam where he performed with the Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands . He also has performed in both the Mirror Hall and the Small Hall of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In July 2011 , Arjan followed the Mallet & Percussion Camp Ney Rosauro in Orlando, Florida. This study was made possible by Foundation Herbert Duintjer Fund. He also regularly gives chamber music concerts with the Colori Ensemble, consisting of flute, oboe , marimba and piano. Since 2011 Arjan Jongsma is endorser of Majestic Holland. He plays the Majestic M8650H 5 octave marimba, the M7743H 4 1/3 octave marimba and the V7530G vibraphone.
