Mt. Juliet, TN – April 14, 2015 – Majestic Percussion is proud to partner with the Lassiter High School Percussion Department on the presentation of the second annual Lassiter High School Percussion Ensemble Symposium on Saturday, April 25th. This exciting event provides a platform for School Percussion Ensembles to perform, receive instruction from world renowned artists, and hear incredible percussion performances.
Held in the beautifully appointed Lassiter Concert Hall, Percussion Ensembles are treated to a meticulously designed and acoustically treated auditorium guaranteeing a memorable experience for every participant. Following each ensemble performance, the groups are conveniently relocated to an adjoining facility for review, critique, and instruction on the literature performed utilizing a complete set of duplicate percussion instruments enabling the highest quality of hands-on guidance.
The event concludes with an evening concert of percussion music featuring the Morehead State University Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Brian Mason and headlined by the eclectic percussion duo Team Islas and renowned percussion soloists Casey Cangelosi, Dr. John Parks IV, and She-e Wu.
The festival format is not a new idea, but after deliberating over the challenges that face an ensemble made up of large percussion instruments, percussion educator Mike Lynch realized the potential of the Lassiter Concert Hall and decided to make it the home of this exciting symposium focusing on both the performance and educational experience of scholastic percussion ensembles. The facility and format work together to create a unique event in the world of percussion ensemble that “has quickly become a fantastic destination for percussion students and educators to experience a showcase of music, artistry, quality percussion instruments, and percussive education,” according to Majestic Percussion Product Manager, Jeff Mulvihill. “After sponsoring the supply of supplemental instruments to make the hands-on experience possible last year, we immediately knew that we wanted to step up our involvement with additional artist support as well. We are very happy to be able to assist in bringing Morehead State, Brian Mason, Casey Cangelosi, Team Islas and She-e Wu to this event where so many young percussionists are gathered.”
Conveniently located just north of Atlanta in Marietta, GA, the Lassiter Percussion Ensemble Symposium is accessible and affordable for a great many ensembles and is sure to continue to be an important event for percussion education.
